Inhaler dependency
My mother, 60Y, used to have SOB on stress and has been prescribed Butamate 400 inhaler die to moderate lung restriction in PFT report. Doctor has prescribed it for 8 weeks. All other blood, ECG, echo, xray reports are normal. I wanted to ask that if she starts inhaler, will she have to take it for lifetime or is it temporary?

Inhaler is very safe. The drug in Inhaler will be in minutes quantities, and will act only in the target area,ie Lung.So side effects are very less, when compared to oral drugs. Even if it is taken for long time also, no problem. Depending upon the disease, the doctor will prescribe the medicine, for a prescribed period. There is no dependency.Even children are prescribed inhalers.Pl consult Pulmonologist online with all the reports and treatment taken.
