Hypothyroidism is. not only the cause of overweight.Its one of the causes.Check why her thyroid level is not under control..Whether her dose is not sufficient.
Remember one very very imp. point. Hypo or hyperthyroidism,Diabetes ,Hypertension are not diseases. They are all metabolic disorders and are inter related.The main things which you have to follow are diet and exercise.Then comes the medicines.Without diet and exercise even high doses of medicine will not keep them under control.With medicine it gets controlled in the initial stages but as time passes the dose will not be sufficient to keep them under control.
Detary plan should include less amount of carbohydrates like rice,or roti, tubers like,potato,sweet potato,,colocasia,yam,etc.,
More amount of proteins like pulses,legumes like beans,soya,milk & milk products like buttermilk,yoghurt with low fat,paneer,Nonveg like egg white,chicken fish
Less amount of fats like oils,ghee,butter,cream,,red meat
Oil consumption should be 1/2 litre per person per month.Keep changing the oils like sunflower,groundnut,safflower,mustard oils..Never use oils like palmolein,dalda,vanaspathi,ghee
Consume all varieties of vegetables except tubers,cabbage,cauliflower,broccoli.
Better avoid sweets and sugar.Use low fat milk,toned milk
Eat lots of veg salad or a fruit with a glass of buttermilk. in between breakfast and lunch..
Include snacks like sprouts,boiled channa,,murmura,poha,oats,cornflakes,etc in between lunch and. dinner.
Take 3-4 soked almonds Or 2 walnuts,curry leaves,2- e3 cloves of garlic everyday
Home remedy for weight reduction ------- Soak 2 tsp of fenugreek( methi) seeds in water for 24 hrs,drain off the water i and chew them. early morning.It will not have bitter taste as the seeds are soaked for 24 hrs..If she cannot eat them raw.she can add 2 tsp of curd mix well and eat.
Never drink any type of juice instead eat a fruit as a whole..
Dont eat a routine diet .Keep changing the diet. Istead of roti or phulkas,,cook whet or jowar rawa like rice and eat it wit lot of curry.Never eat deep fried foods,pickles,processed foods.
Eat in regular in little amounts and exercise regularly for atleast half an hour and get sunlight exposure daily.
If BP is under cpntrol. she can have 100 ml of tender coconut water once in a while
Consume. at least One and half to two litres of water perday.
Get exposed to sunlight for at least 20 to 30 min before 8.30 am or after 4.30 pm..
And check with your physician or endocrinologist regarding your thyroid levels
