In treatment for CML - breathing trouble
In treatment for CML from August 2015. Started with Imatinib 600mg and now taking Dasatinib 50 mg for past 1 year as advised by the doctor. Doing well. No Complaints. No side effects for dasatinib so far but for past one month having breathing trouble. Climbing few steps, doing little hard work also getting difficult due to this breathing trouble. Not able to lay down and sleep as well. My next review with my oncologist is on May 30. Should I wait till that time or Can i see any other doctor nearby for this issue. Kindly advise.

In rare cases, dasatinib can cause difficulty in breathing, shortness of breath, cough, or other respiratory symptoms, better to consult with your oncologist. Condition like pulmonary edema , pulmonary artery hypertension are rarely seen with dasatinib , which can cause these symptoms . The drug you had taken imatinib is prone for producing interstitial lung disease which can cause all these symptoms , so better to consult with your oncologist , he may have changed your drug due to any such findings . But if it’s difficult ,consult with your nearest available doctor , he can help you rule out other causes, please give him this history . Also he can examine you and give you any required emergency care according to the cause .
