You require a good sugar control. For that you need to understand duration of action of insulin you are taking. For example Human mixtard 30/70 is a premix insulin with 12 hrs of action so if you take insulin at morning 8.00 am its action will only last till evening 8.00pm so you need to take 2nd shot by this time. Now this premix has 30 % regular insulin or fast acting part and 70 % isophane i.e intemediate acting insulin. Suppose you are taking 20 units at morning before breakfast then 6 units will act faster and rest 14 units will act till 12hrs. This 6 units will take care of your breakfast sugar peak. You need to take insulin mixtard atleast 30 mins before meals for good results also abdomen is preffered area.
