ILD-Idiopathic: Steroid use
Dear sir, My father(age 71)' was diagnosed with ILD in 2021 post covid infection. Most probably covid aggravated the ILD. He is now on Nintedanib 100 bd, Serommune 500 bd, Medrol 4 mg OD since March 2024. His condition is more or less stable with less cough. Is it fine to include steroid for long term? Will there be any side effects? Any alternative to reduce or avoid steroid use? Is it true that ILD can also pass to next generation (familial ILD, per online reports)? Thank you for suggestions.

the decision on steroids should only be taken once the comparison is made on his overall clinical + radiological + pft progression..not on any single factor
