I have diverticular disease
A ct scan for diverticular disease discovered a 4.5 cm cyst within one kidney which wasnt there 5 yrs ago. I have been told an operation for removal of the kidney is the best thing because it probably is malignant. I have no symptoms of the kidney disease.

All kidney cysts are not malignant. Incidentally detected cysts like yours are given a classification based on the level of suspicion of malignancy. Only the highly suspicious ones need surgery
