I have a fairly large umbilical hernia.
I have a fairly large umbilical hernia and it causes no pain or discomfort but I'm wondering what are the chances the Dr advises surgery? I'm 32 and diabetic but it is well controlled. I'm 6 ft and weigh 260. I'm scared of being put to sleep.

Hi, it's better to get operated as this would keep increasing in size and may involve intrapment of a bowel loop any period of time. Then this becomes a emergency situation. We do it with key hole surgery ( Laparoscopic repair) of size is less than 6-7 cms.
