Hypermetropia
How can a person suffer from nearsightedness and been prescribed +power lenses for hyperopia? Aunt has been given +0.25 sph power in both eyes which is a prescription for hyperopia (long sightedness). But she says she is slightly shortsighted(not able to see distance objects) and she is clear with nearer objects? !! Can hyperopia patients experience nearsightedness instead of longsightedness? If so how come plus power works, she needs a minus power right?

Hello, long sightedness and short sightedness are actually misnomers, yes a person who can see clear objects for near can have plus power for distance, that's hypermetropia which can be both for near and distance... After 40 Yrs if patient complains difficulty of reading its called presbyopia.. Hope this clarifies your doubt.
