Hydrochlorothiazide in Hyponatremia
My grandmother aged 85 years suffered from hyponatremia 3 months back. Recently her BP was not controlled with Telma 40, so doctor prescribed Olmezest H 40. Though as of now her sodium levels are 141, but will Hydrochlorothiazide have major effects on thhese levels? Or it be avoided or it may work with regular monitoring of Serum Electrolytes?

Hi, please avoid hydrochlorthiazide in elderly as the chance of hyponatremia is there. You can give other combinations like amlodipine and olmesartan.
