M having diabetes mellitus type 1 since 2012 and m taking human mixtard 30/70 (biphasic isophane) for a couple of months and i wanted to know when it starts working and how long it stays in body . For eg novorapid starts working in 10 mins and lasts for 3 hours in the body . Like that .

Its a premix insulin with a combination of short acting component (30%) and intermediate acting component(70%). The former starts working in 30 mins and lasts around 6 to 8 hrs. The latter lasts around 12 to 14 hours.
However, I do not advocate the use of premix insulins in type 1 diabetics.
