As without IGG differentiation between HSV1 and HSV 2 is not possible

Tzank smear is a quick test it is not a blood test.
There is also pcr test.
The doctor needs your history to prescribe the appropriate test. There is no best test.

You go to the Laboratory for HSV testing.
You don't tell the Pathologist or the Technician about the sub class of the test.
