HSV 1&2 IGG 18
Hi Doctor, My friend had an oral exposure 5 months back, after 3 months, he tested negative for HSV 1 & 2 both igm and igg. He tested again for HSV 1 & 2 after 5 months and igg value shows 18. Recently a week back, he recovered from dengue fever, do you think, the igg level can be higher because of dengue, does he need to test again after a month to confirm? At 3 months, he had all negative tests. If he has an infection, how to cure this, does he need to accept and live with this all his life now? Please help.

Hi..... Everyone is susceptible to infection. The disease does not usually confer protective immunity because the virus tends to become latent in dorsal root ganglia of the spine, where it may be reactivated at a later date.... Antiviral drugs are usually prescribed.... Consult your Physician for further evaluation.....
