HPV vaccination (PCOS history)
I have a history of PCOD since 2013. Highly irregular menses, vaginal discharge, unwanted hair growth on stomach and chin, frequent UTIs have been major problems during this period. Internal ultrasounds and Pap smear have also been done in year 2016 I have been sexually active since 2011 and menstruation started in year 2009. I am 27 right now and I wanted to know if I can go for having HPV vaccine. Will it be useful now.? And will there be any side effects.? Please guide.

Thereare two types of vaccine available in India, bivalent and quadrivalent You can take any. There are no side effects. If you have already been exposed to the strains of HPV virus, vaccine will not be of much help. There is no clinical WY to know if you have been ezpoaes. You xan get a cervical pap smear and test for HPV DNA If there is no exposure to strain 6,11,16,18 you can take the quadrivalent vaccine.

HPV VACCINES 2 HPV vaccines are currently available 1. Bivalent vaccine (Cervarix): against HPV types 16 & 18 (16, 18 HPV cause 70% of cervical cancers) 2. Quadrivalent vaccine (Gardacil): against HPV 16 ,18 , 6 & 11 USE: Prophylactic (prevent HPV infections) Age group: 13 to 19 years ( Prior to sexual activity initiation) Schedule: Cervarix (0,1,6) Gardacil (0,2,6) You are 27 yrs and sexually active. Recent study suggest that this vaccine can be taken even after age of 19yrs and after sexual exposure also. It has its effect then also. PCOS and other condition has no effect on HPV vaccine. HPV vaccine has no side effects as such. U have to see if u r allergic to that.
