How to remove tonsil stones at home
I am a 53 year old male and I have been suffering from tonsil stones for quite some time now. I have tried a lot of medications and the symptoms just seem to come back again and again. I would now like to know the ways in which I can remove tonsil stones at home. Are there any home remedies for tonsil stones?

Tonsil stones, or tonsilloliths, are hard white or yellow formations that are located on or within the tonsils. Your tonsils are made up of crevices, tunnels, and pits called tonsil crypts. Different types of debris, such as dead cells, mucus, saliva, and food, can get trapped in these pockets and build up. Bacteria and fungi feed on this buildup and cause a distinct odor. Over time, the debris hardens into a tonsil stone. Tonsil stones rarely cause larger health complications. However, sometimes they can grow into larger formations that can cause your tonsils to swell, and they often have an unpleasant odor. Manually removing tonsil stones by yourself at home can be risky and lead to complications, such as bleeding and infection. I would advise you to visit a ENT so that you can be examined and have the stones removed. The following steps may help: - Practice good oral hygiene, including cleaning the bacteria off the back of your tongue when you brush your teeth - Stop smoking if you have the habit - Gargling with salt in lukewarm water twice to thrice a day - Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated(Aim to drink 3 liters of water per day) If the problem persists or worsens visit the ER at the earliest.
