How to read lipid profile test results
My mother just got her lipid profile test result from our doctor. Everything was normal according to her doctors but I’m highly interested to read the test results myself. You will see next to the actual reading there's a normal range (sometimes in brackets). If the reading is more or less than the normal levels it is significant. The lipid profile normal values are(this can change at times from lab to lab based on their method technique and measurement parameters):
Triglycerides: 50-150 mg/dL
Total cholesterol: 3-5.5 mmol/L
High-density lipoprotein (HDL): 40-80 mg/dL
Low-density lipoprotein (LDL): 85-125 mg/dL
