You have not written what is your sperm count and why have you done it. Previously it was believed that normal sperm count range is 60-120 million per ml, but there has been a reduction in sperm counts all over the world and this has made the WHO to reduce the parameters to 15-100 million per ml. so if your sperm count is anything more than 15 million , its normal. Many a laboratories donot change this normal range and hence patients feel their count is low. Also many doctors also do not know about this new criteria and they too say counts are low.
Next Steps
If you are married and you have done the test based on a doctors recommendation, it's okay, but if you have done on your own,to know your fertility, then you must not worry. Actually fertility is a product of a couple and not an individual. May men with low sperm count can also conceive. Similarly men with high sperm count also face difficulty in conceiving if their wives are not fertile. If you are married and your sperm count is lower than 15 million, you must seek consultation of a gynecologist or urologist and get help. They may ask you to go for some blood tests and give some medications to help your count to grow. Sperms take about 85 days to form hence, medicines have to be taken for a good 3 months before seeing their effect
Health Tips
Sperms are produced in testes and nature has kept the testes outside the body to reduce the temperature in that area . If you are working in an atmosphere where heat if there, or are exposed to harmful chemicals like fertilizers etc, these can reduce sperm count too. Avoid wearing tight fitting jeans and when at home at night wear loose pyjamas and do not wear underwear. this will help reduce the local temperature of the scrotum and help sperm production
