Usully surgery in hyperthyroidism is only indicated when large goitre size, not able to treat with antithyoid medication or RAI which are quite non invasive therapies..
Surgery done is near total thyroidectomy.. U need to admit in hospital and post op monitoring for hypocalcemia is required..
Further permanent hypothyroidism develops which require life long thyroid supplements..
Before going to surgery plz consult Endocrinologist DM /DNB to assess and decide right form of treatment..!!
