Total hip replacement is usually done in spinal or epidural anaesthesia and are very safe in all age groups. Having said that the fusion of spinal tissues make spinal anaesthesia difficult, but an experienced anaesthetist may put desired anaesthesia in u. Putting GA through tube is also not easy due to limited mobility of neck in some patients with ank soond. So during pre anaesthesia checks ur anaesthetist will assess u n discuss regarding which anaesthesia s best for u.
Next Steps
Should be examined by anaesthesia doctor where u r planning to get it done.
Health Tips
Please get ur surgery done at a hospital where all specialities are there.

Choice of anesthesia is  with the anesthetist and not with the patient. It is a very critical phase for  the patient. Anaesthetist should be given all the information about the patient's health. Anesthesit should be given freedom to choose anesthesia for the patient.
