What could cause a hill-sachs lesion besides a dislocation? An x-ray showed the lesion but I have never dislocated my shoulder.

Usually it's dislocation..you may have dislocated shoulder during a trauma or fall or any activity and the shoulder must have regained its alignment leaving back the lesion due to compression force
