High HS-CRP levels
Hello, my mother was suffering from cough and fever from last 4-5 days. Yesterday her CRP report came nd the result was 84.69 mg/L. Doctor advised her rt-pcr test. So if it's because of covid is there any thing to worry about. Will it become normal again.

Hello , CRP is an acute phase reactant which is elevated in case of any sort of infection or inflammation in the body ! High levels of CRP is hence also a manifestation of COVID ! Your doctor is absolutely right to exclude COVID first with the symptoms she has in the setting of a pandemic! Whatever be the cause of the fever , if the same is treated and she recovers from the same the CRP levels will come down to normal levels !

A high level of CRP in the blood is a marker of inflammation. It can be caused by a wide variety of conditions, from infection to cancer. High CRP levels can also indicate that there’s inflammation in the arteries of the heart, which can mean a higher risk of heart attack. However, the CRP test is an extremely nonspecific test, and CRP levels can be elevated in any inflammatory condition. Doing a covid test will help as I have seen in many Covid patients.
