High glucose during kidney stone ER trip
I recently went to the emergency room for kidney stones (2nd time in 7 years). My glucose was at 138. I hadn't eaten or drank that morning, had been awake for about 2-3 hours (from 5:30 to about 8 AM). Not sure if they took blood before or after giving me drugs/fluids. I wasn't paying attention to time after about 8, when they took me in. ER doc didn't mention any concerns. I'm 34 years old, 5'8, 142lbs, otherwise in good health. Should I consult my pcp For further diabetes tests?

Hi Depending on the size of the renal stones, treatment may involve a conservative management or surgical intervention. The sugars if taken after administering IV fluids may be high. Please visit a Urologist for further evaluation and management of renal stones. Please visit a Diabetologist for further evaluation and management of sugars.
