My father has been diagnosed with herpes zoster. He has blisters around his eyes, forehead and scalp. Though the physician said that his eyes are fine and he should visit eye specialist only in case he does not feel good but I am concerned and want to know if there is any issue with his eye. There is swelling around his right eye and its watery as well and some blisters also. He has started taking anti viral medication. But please let me know if there is anything not okay. Also please help on whether herpes zoster is contagious if I have had chicken pox last year. I've to take care of him. Please help

Virus can be shed from the blisters. It affects those who`s immunity is low. Those who have had chicken pox in past, will not be infected by HZ of patients. They can get HZ because of previous chicken pox infection, if immunity is low.
Maintain hygiene, use gloves if required. Give the patient good nutritious diet and proper medication as advised by the Dr.
