I have been on antidepressants (Prestiq 100 daily and Zolfresh 2.5-5mg) for quite sometime now. Dosage has reduced now as compared to before.
However I haven't been able to reduce betacap intake and that has increased from 40 earlier to ciplar 80 LA now. I tried hard to reduce this with the help of psychiatrist but every time I do this, palpitations would go up and adds to a great discomfort. Feels like crushing pain around heart at times.
The pain occurs at one place only and continues for long- hours, days and months. Never really stops. I have had ECGs, TMTs etc done at regular intervals but reports are always ok. I just hope that with this Ciplar going up to 100 LA at times now ,it doesn't accompany any severe side effects.

Hello,
If your repeated ECG and TMT are normal then you do not have to worry. These palpitations could be just because of beta blocker withdrawal and anxiety. Keep doing regular exercise to raise your vagal tone so that this ciplar can be reduced without you having palpitations
Take care

The first step is to rule out any rhythm disturbance. As your TMT (and probably ECHO) are normal, you don’t have any conventional cardiac problem. But rhythm disturbances should be looked for. This is done by Holter monitoring for 24hrs or 48hrs. If there are no rhythm disturbances, your symptoms should be purely psychological.
Beta blockers like Ciplar have several side effects including nightmares, sleep disturbances, and erectile dysfunction. Careful monitoring of the side effects should be done.
Next Steps
Regular exercise and meditation go a long way in reducing depression. Please follow lifestyle changes and try to reduce the doses of medication. Dose reduction should always be done with the supervision of your psychiatrist.
