decreased hearing can occur due to many reasons. it can be
1. conductive loss : where there is defect in your ear drum or bones which conduct sound
2. sensory neural loss : defect is in inner ear or the nerves deep within inner ear and brain
before treating hearing lose you need to undergo thorough ear examination to rule out any infections of middle ear causing hearing loss. in any case you need to undergo an audiogram to identify type and amount of hearing loss you are having
conductive loss can be corrected surgically but sensory neural loss requires one or the other types of hearing aid
