Health query
My brother had scabies last October, and I also had itching from it in January. First, my thighs itched a lot at night, then it itched under my chest as well. I applied my brother's lotion which he had brought from the hospital.Itching reduced due to this, after that I was diagnosed with stone in my gallbladder and I got its surgery done, there was no itching during those days, though now it is not that itchy but I still have itching in my thighs, is that the reason?Would that scabies not have healed yet? I even had surgery done, would that cause any problem? At this time I suddenly feel cold waves in my body, suddenly on any body part.Could this be due to scabies? If yes, please tell me what I should do.

Yes, the itching you had — starting in the thighs and spreading, worse at night, after contact with your brother — does sound like scabies. The lotion helped, which further confirms this. However, scabies needs to be treated properly to fully clear. Even after the mites are killed, itching can continue for 4-6 weeks because your skin is still reacting to the mite's remains. This is called post-scabies itch and is very common — it doesn't mean you still have active scabies. But to be safe, do one proper treatment course: apply Permethrin 5% cream (Scabicid/Lyclear) all over the body from neck to toes, leave it overnight, wash off in the morning. Repeat after 7 days. All household members should do it at the same time, and wash all clothes and bedsheets in hot water. Regarding the cold waves/chills in different body parts — this is NOT a scabies symptom at all. This sounds more like it could be related to iron deficiency/anemia or anxiety. Given that you have fatty liver and recently had surgery, get a CBC and iron/ferritin test done. The gallbladder surgery has no connection to scabies whatsoever. Feel free to consult me on Practo for proper guidance.
