She had small boils with itching allover the body. She went to a dermatologist and underwent steroid medication for three weeks. The doctor diagonised it is because of using hair dye. After the treatment she got some relief. From that time she stopped using hair dye. But again after a few days the head itching started. Now she wants to know whether the problem belongs to hair dye or not. If It is so why the itching is still prevailing. And if it is not so can she apply hair dye...

Thanks for the query. Based on your description it looks like a superficial bacterial infection usually caused by staphylococcus aureus. Sometimes they co-exist with fungal folliculitis. Kindly consult a dermatologist for exact diagnosis and a precise treatment plan. Its also important to prevent their relapse once you have got it cured. A decolonization regimen suggested by your doctor will help. The first episode could have been the hair dye contact allergy. In future use a hair dye with a component called ppd.
