Hair Thinning and Bald Patches
I am 23 Year Old facing a tremendous hairfall and Hair thinning. I also experience sticky dandruff which is rather more Annoying. I was being told by some doctors that I am suffering from Androgenic Male Pattern Baldness. I hooked up with Homeopathic medication for the past 2 years but no effective results. I want gain thick and strong hair. I came across BIOTIN, MINOXIDIL and FENASTERIDE. But as a matter of fact Finasteride and Minoxidil has adverse side effects on body (Source: Internet). Suggest me what would be the best actions to be taken so as to have a thickened Hair line. Kindly lead me to the right direction and I am open to suggestion. Your help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks for the query. Male pattern baldness (MPB) is an increasing problem in today's society. Hair care is a daily ritual shaped by age, gender, socioeconomic status and internal health. With increasing affordability people are more aware of the cosmetic appearance and hair fall forms a major part of the complaints. It is more difficult to manage if there is a family member with similar hair fall, it indicates genetics and we know that the person is destined to lose hair if not intervened and corrective measures are not taken. The treatment typically consists of usage of oral medication (Finasteride) and topical lotion (Minoxidil in 5% strength). One needs to be patient with the treatment protocol as it takes months to see initial improvement. Minoxidil is recommended by US-FDA for indefinite usage and such side effects are not seen. Finasteride has a robust efficacy when taken daily for a period of atleast a year. If you and your dermatologist decide, that you should be on finasteride, then there are certain topics to be discussed and certain blood tests that has to be performed. You should be mentally prepared to take it for a period of atleast 6 months before declaring that finasteride did not work for you. Maximum benefits are seen at the end of one year. If you wish to discontinue finasteride, the beneficial effects of it will slowly reverse in a span of few months. Certain dermatologists supplement biotin, hair serum and advice procedures like PRP therapy which may accelerate the rate of hair growth.
