Hair loss in round patches
Round patches of hair loss on scalp after medication on diagnosing hypertension, kidney disease, thyroid condition. Hair was not occurring before medication started. High pressure medication and thyroid medication caused hypotension and hyperthyroidism in first few weeks, major hair loss occurred in initial periods.  medication reduced now, cannot pinpoint cause of hair loss. I've heard thyroid condition can cause but didn't have any balding before medication and it's within limits now with reduced dosage. Can anyone suggest what is the cause? I've to shave scalp every week to hide the hair loss mostly concentrated on the back of head.

You are having alopecia areata. this is an autoimmune condition due to the attack of lymphocytes against hair roots. It results in the formation of bald patches on the scalp. It can affect any hairy area of the body also like eyebrows and  beard. It has to be treated properly for long duration until the immunity comes down. Once the immunity is controlled, hair grows back over the patches. Please call me or contact me with photos using online consult option for accurate diagnosis and treatment. ,
