Periods can be delayed for several reasons. I'm assuming you are not pregnant. I would not rush to take any medicines ifthos is the first time that they are delayed. You may wait for up to 15 days before consulting your doctor if your period does not arrive. If it is a recurrent problem your gynaecologist may prescribe the pill to help regularise your cycle for three months. You can then stop the pills and see if your periods stay regular. You may need to correct other aspects like weight and exercise so your periods become regular again.
