Recently I fell over a suffered a weber B fracture in my ankle, when I had my x-ray I asked the fracture clinic if my growth plate had closed at the ankle and they said yes. However I have been growing since and my height has increased by 1.5cm, how is this possible?

There is an order in which growth plates fuse. Even after the fusion in the lower tibia(ankle), the growth plates around knee and hip and also vertebrae will contribute to the increase in height till they fuse.

Growth plates appear on x-ray if they are viable. When the physis fused to remaining bone, the bone appears as one unit.
