This 2D echo report is overall very reassuring. There is nothing here suggesting serious heart disease. Key points from the report: * Heart pumping function is normal * LVEF = 65% (excellent normal range) * No wall motion abnormality * No valve leakage or narrowing * No pulmonary hypertension * No clot or fluid around the heart * Heart chamber sizes are normal The only finding mentioned is: “Grade 1 DD” = Grade 1 Diastolic Dysfunction This means the heart muscle is slightly less relaxed during filling phase. In a 30-year-old, mild Grade 1 DD can occur due to: * being overweight * borderline/high BP * poor sleep * stress/anxiety * lack of exercise * early metabolic issues (prediabetes, cholesterol) * sometimes even technical/observer variation between two echos Importantly: * It is the mildest possible grade * Very commonly seen * Usually reversible or stable * Not dangerous by itself when systolic function is normal like yours Your echo from last year being “normal” does not necessarily mean the heart suddenly became abnormal. Mild Grade 1 DD can appear or disappear depending on: * hydration * heart rate * BP during scan * machine/operator interpretation At your age, with otherwise normal findings, this is usually not a serious condition.
Next Steps
1. Reduce weight gradually * At 5.5 ft and 78 kg, losing even 6–8 kg can improve diastolic relaxation. 2. Continue regular exercise * Brisk walking/cardio 150 min/week * Strength training is fine * Avoid becoming sedentary 3. Check these if not already done: * Blood pressure * HbA1c / fasting sugar * Lipid profile * Thyroid profile * Sleep quality/snoring 4. Diet * Reduce excess salt, fried food, sugary drinks * Improve sleep and stress management * Limit smoking/alcohol if applicable 5. No panic and no excessive repeat testing * Usually just clinical follow-up is enough * Repeat echo only if symptoms develop or after 1–2 years if advised Seek medical review sooner if you develop: * breathlessness on exertion * leg swelling * chest pain * fainting * reduced exercise tolerance
