Gluteal abscess
I got abscess due to injection which was painful.so dr drained it but again it reoccurred.For which I have taken augmentin 1g and chymoral forte 1 td. Dr also suggested sumag dressing due to which it opened and pus is coming. Area is still large pain is there and there is some hardness. I want to know 1. Can it be cured without operation? 2.If it is fatal to leave it untreated for some time due to covid? Please suggest.what should I do..My mother is scared about this surgery.

Spontaneous rupture of gluteal abscess to release some amount of pus, Wil not give full cure. It has to be drained thoroughly. Please Consul a general surgeon.     I don't think, it will proove fatal if consultation is delayed by few days. In the meantime, don't forget to do a proper dressing.

Surgery is necessary is pus is draining in large quantities. Is she diabetic? Any ultrasonography done. Consult for a proper assessment.
