Hi there.. Glaucoma is a condition that causes damage to your eye's optic nerve. It might be due to increase of pressure inside the eye or even normal pressure.. it might lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated.Normally fluid, called aqueous humor, flows out of the eye through a mesh-like channel. If this channel becomes blocked, fluid builds up, causing glaucoma. there are two types- open angle glaucoma which usually is gradual and may or not associated with eye pain and closed angle glaucoma which is sudden and very painful associated with redness of eyes, seen most times in women over 40years and needs immediate treatment else can lead to vision loss.. treatment includes eye drops which reduce pressure by reducing aqueous production and surgery to open the block.. please consult nearby ophthalmologist as soon as possible as it needs immediate pressure reduction else vision loss is possible..
