This is mild hypothyroidism
Treatment for hypothyroidism is life time
Levels of 5 to 10 are borderline, urgent treatment needed when pregnancy is planned, or strong family history in symptomatic patient
Pl repeat tests every 3 months if below 10 and above factors are not operating then ignore ,
Start when you cross 10 TSH
There is mild hypothyroidism.
Do regular exercise.
Take plenty of fluids.
Avoid Oily Spicy Smoked and Deep Fried Food
Avoid Tea Coffee Dark Chocolate Pastries Red Meat Cabbage Cauliflower, Soy Products etc.
Medication as such not required but you can start with Thyronorm 12.5mcg once daily in empty stomach at around 6-6:30 am for 3 months then repeat the thyroid profile test.
But before that I would recommend Thyroid Profile (Free Blood) test as that would give accurate diagnosis as most of the labs do Thyroid Profile (Total Blood).
Consult in case of emergency under Practo.
It means that if your TSH level in thyroid profile test- 5.5 then it's 0.5 value is more cause normal value is 0.5 to 5.5 mIU / ml
It's is very mild increase .
Next Steps
In treatment point of view you shuld change your life style firstly as for 1 month-
Like take less spicy and fatty food .
take sufficient amount of drinking water per day .
Do exercise regularly with yoga and meditation.
Do all these for 1 month then take test again for-thyroid profile.
if value again high then you should take start the treatment.
