Hello, I understand your concern
Sometimes children go through a phase of frequent urination or minor accidents, especially around age 4. It can be due to excitement, distraction, or even minor irritation.
Common causes:
Overactive bladder / urgency
Urinary tract infection (UTI)
Post-UTI irritability
Daytime urinary frequency syndrome (pollakiuria) – sudden frequent peeing, small amounts, usually resolves in weeks
Psychological stress
Constipation
Diabetes (if excessive thirst, appetite, or weight loss present)
Encourage timed voiding: ask child to try urinating every 2–3 hours
Avoid bladder irritants: chocolate, citrus juices, soft drinks
Ensure proper hydration
Avoid punishing or shaming the child
Check for and treat constipation
Next Steps
Urine routine & microscopy
Urine culture (if infection suspected)
Blood sugar (if red flags for diabetes)
Ultrasound KUB if symptoms persist or recurrent
Health Tips
Review with Pediatrician:
If symptoms worsen or persist beyond 2 weeks
If pain, fever, or excessive thirst develops
If there is night-time wetting after being dry for >6 months (secondary enuresis)
