Foot Gangrene on Great Toe
Age-63, Male. Exsmoker and Diabetic from 3 yrs. My father has undergone through Heart bypass operation and then after one month , he gradually developed Dry Gangrene in his Left Great toe. Now doctors suugest that he has to undergo through amputation of Great toe. Do we have an alternative to amputation. Please advise asap.

Since the gangrene has already developed, unfortunately we have no choice but to go ahead with amputation.. make sure to understand foot care basics at the time of discharge from hospital to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.
