Follicle damage treatment
When is scalp biopsy advised and does it help identify if a hair follicle is damaged due to chemical straighteners? What does inflammation below the scalp that is not visible to the eye feel like?

Hi Thanks for your query. Generally, chemical straighteners damage the hair shaft and usually they do not reach the hair root. However, the reaction caused in the skin will be evident on histopathology even when there is no evident inflammation on surface. A scalp biopsy will be helpful to diagnose a pattern balding.
