Flexibility ofadductor/abductor muscles
I have problem with the flexibility of my abductor/addcutor muscles. I am not able to raise my leg side ways beyond a certain point (say up to 45 50 degreed max) without exerting. I do the stretches (lying down and stretching the legs on either side) but it does not seem to help). There is also a slight nagging pain in the area where the hip meets the thigh

Flexibility issues won't come in two opposite groups such abductor and adductors. It's probably some things to do with hip joint.
Next Steps
meet the orthopaedic surgeon to rule out hip pathology before try physio and self exercise
