Feeling introvert
Hi doctor, I m introvert but I don't want to be like hiding from social activities, meeting friends. How can I change myself. I feel very bad when I feel not to participate and talk to people. Somehow I am feeling difficult to express myself in front of group all the time. Kindly help me with this. Thanks and regards, Jeevitha

Hi Jeevitha, it can be helpful to gradually expose yourself to social situations, starting with smaller gatherings or one-on-one interactions. Set realistic goals for socializing and celebrate small achievements. Remember that it's okay to take breaks and prioritize self-care when needed. Developing self-compassion and acknowledging that social skills can be learned over time can also be beneficial.
Next Steps
If social anxiety persists, seeking support from a psychotherapist can provide tailored strategies to navigate and overcome these challenges.
Health Tips
It's important to approach social challenges gradually and with patience, as pushing yourself too hard may lead to increased stress. Be mindful of your personal boundaries and give yourself permission to step back when needed. If social situations become overwhelming, seeking professional guidance from a psychotherapist can offer valuable insights and support tailored to your specific needs.

Hi Jeevitha, it's completely okay to be introverted, and it's great that you're open to expanding your social interactions. Remember introversion is a natural personality trait, different from shyness. To become more comfortable in social situations, start by taking small steps. Attend smaller gatherings or one-on-one interactions initially. Practice active listening and ask open-ended questions to keep conversations flowing. Gradually exposing yourself to social situations will help build your confidence.
