Long use of contact lenses can sometimes result in CLaRe or contact lens associated red eye or CLiDe or contact lens induced dry eye, both of which can cause the symptoms you describe. That is why, even though you can purchase the lenses from an optician, it is good to have an annual eye check up from an eye surgeon or Ophthalmologist.
In your case, I would recommend to stop wearing the lenses for a week and put lubricant eye drops frequently. If the problem persists do see an eye doctor to avoid long term damage to the eye. Maskatieyeclinic Opposite Charni road station east, Mumbai
