At the age of 36 ,a computer professional experiencing eye strain is not something to ignore. If your work is getting affected and it will continue to  produce discomfort as the time goes by and as your age advances it might become all the more troublesome. Without examination it is impossible to answer your question but few imp things are worth mentioning here for everybody's benefit as a part of medical information. Do u have glass power ? Or you had glasses which you stopped using in past on your own? Possibility is that the power has changed or increased and that is what is causing strain. Or Do you have dry eyes? Need to confirm after examination. Most of the times it is seen in my clinic that most of patients did self diganosis  or read it on internet or as a part of rumor or heresay, considered it to be,             "computer vision syndrome" and they were  using some kind of advertized eye drops for long  time on their own as we call it self medication, and at the later date when nothing worked out at last medical eye consultation is sought for.. when they consult me....It was one of the above mentioned things which was the causative factor, and unnecessarily patients were using some drops and going through the discomfort for long time and at last consulted eye doctor to get relief. Then why not to consult eye doctor in the beginning itself and take proper treatment for your discomfort. ....... "so that working on laptop which is a professional need of software professional becomes pleasurable rather then discomfort".
