Epithelial defect - Multiple abrasions
Dear Doctors, My father (67yrs old) is currently suffering from recurring epithelial defect with multiple abrasions in his right eye. In the past 1 months, this problem is recurring third time. We have visited many clinics across Noida but couldn't get best resolution of this problem. Medical history - he underwent right eye cataract surgery in April 2022. Current treatment - Moxigram, Systane, Eyemist. Can anyone please explain this issue and its treatment? Thanks in advance.

BP and blood sugars shd be within normal limits and ecosprin is usually stopped 5-7 days prior cataract surgery.If the cataract surgeon is fast he/she might complete it in 10min so that his paralysis is not a problem for surgery.

Epithelial defect can be due to local irritation or some upper eyelid pathology or concretions or due to dry eyes viral infections. SHOULD treat the cause first to avoid recurrence.
