Hi, Brain is made up of lot of neurons. Neurons are special cells which can make small amount of electrical charge and send signal to other parts of body. Now Brain has different parts for controlling different functions and all these parts are connected to each other through connections. These connections carry electrical signals. So now you imagine your brain as large head-quarter with different departments connected with electrical wires for signal transfer. Now if some part of this whole network is damaged then there will be sort-circuit. This sort-circuit can be small or large. Now whenever this sort circuit will happen there will be more damage to wires, equipments etc. So it is important that no more sort circuit occurs. These sort circuit are similar to seizures(epilepsy) which your brother is having. Each time your brother suffers from epilepsy more damage occurs in his brain. Brain is very special organ - it needs time to repair itself. It needs atleast 5 yrs for brain to repair it's damaged part and if damage is large brain may not be able to repair itself in whole life.
Next Steps
1) Never stop medicine yourself - doctor will stop medicine if there are no attack for atleast 5 yrs continuously. 2) Consult epilepsy expert neurologist. 3) There are many medicine available now, but you cannot make mistake of stopping medicine without cure.
Health Tips
If you stop medicine and your brother keeps getting attacks. His brain will get more damage and he may then need more medicine to control seizures. He can also end up in drug resistant epilepsy where no drug may be able to control his epilepsy attacks. So Don't take it lightly.
