Electric shock
Hi this is Dr.Bhadaditya Sengupta.my younger sister has memory loss.she can't remember anything.can't sleep also.i gave gave her sleeping injection and I admit her in the hospital.will I give her electric shock?

Hello. Please do not rush into electro-convulsive therapy(ECT). Her memory loss may get worse with that. Besides, ECT is usually found to work with extreme cases of psychosis where the patient's behavior can't be controlled with medicines. You may consult a psychiatrist for more detailed examination of her situation, to figure out why she is not able to sleep well and why she has memory problems. I hope this helps.
