Hi,
I have recently diagnosed With left Tubal Ectopic pregnancy. Initial Bhcg test result was 1227 later raised to 2074. During this phase Doctor started treatment with Methotrexate 50mg Intra Muscular(IM) injection. After first dose Bhcg was down to 1550 from 2074 and after second dose it rised from 1550 to 4638 is this rise is normal or should need to go for surgery. Please advise

Hi, ectopic pregnancy can be managed either by surgery or by medical methods I..e.. Methotrexate injection...after giving injection ... b hcg will be repeated on day 4 and 7.. if it falls by 50% ... then no need of second dose.. in your case, after the second dose, b hcg levels rose to 4638... did u show this report to ur gyne? Rise in b hcg after methotrexate is not a good sign... u need to consult ur gyne ... they might suggest ultrasound or other blood tests and may advise surgery if needed...
