With the age of 80+ he comes in high risk group so you should go for covid vaccine as soon as possible and any vaccine will work and if you have still doubt after getting the jab you can go for antibodies test

yes it is safe for him to get vaccinated. he needs to be get vaccinated asap as he is already 80+yr of age and is asthmatic. he is more prone to complications if contracted with covid virus.
