Discharge from open surgery hysterectomy
My mother has undergone open surgery of uterus removal. It's been 7 days of surgery. But today, there is discharge (blood and water mix color) from that stitched portion. Even she didn't damp that portion till today. Even she is taking full rest in home. So is it normal about discharge or not?

Post the photo of discharge. If it is pus we go for culture and sensitivity test and start antibiotic accordingly. If it is just a liquified fast we go for regular dressing which will solve the purpose.

There can be discharge from stitch site, usually it isn't worrisome until & unless there is pus from wound or stitch site is very much painful or patient starts to develop fever.

Consult your operating gynecologist for better wound management.
Actually the collection has to be drained out for better wound healing. Ask your mother to press the wound site & drain the collection on her own.

Could be just seroma that is fat which is liquefied after the surgery mixed with blood
