Difference between aerophagia and IBS
What's the difference between aerophagia and IBS? I am getting air from mouth. I don't do physical activities. Is this the reason why I am getting air? I don't have any other symptoms associated with this. Previously I used to have stomach discomfort, now I am under medication.. so no discomfort. Doctor has given IBS medicine. I am constantly getting urge to take air through mouth.. not able to root cause it. I did endoscopy. Everything came normal. I am worried, if this might not go. Getting air from mouth is very worrying part for me now.

Aerophagia is a condition characterized by excessive swallowing of air, which can lead to symptoms such as belching, bloating, and flatulence. It often occurs unintentionally and may be associated with habits like chewing gum, talking while eating, or drinking carbonated beverages. Treatment for aerophagia typically involves addressing the underlying causes and modifying behaviors that contribute to excessive air swallowing. This may include practicing mindful eating, avoiding carbonated drinks, slowing down while eating, and addressing any underlying conditions such as GERD or anxiety that may contribute to the problem. In some cases, behavioral therapy or counseling may be beneficial to help individuals recognize and change their swallowing patterns.
