Diet Plan for Ramadan month for muslim
My friend is a muslim, and he is 26yrs old and weighs around 57kg. Being a friend and was quite worried about his health (underweight and lean structure) I was asking him not to fast in the month of Ramadan, which is mandatory for them and they will fast for 30 days without taking anything between mong (around 4.30am) to eve (6.30pm).. Will Fasting for 1 month affects his health?? What is the best diet he should follow so that he can be healthy and gain or atleast maintain the same weight?? Please provide the diet plan.

Hello, the fasting for a month might affect his health, but due to religious beliefs it is fine to do this fast. Once he breaks the fast, make sure he does not over fill his stomach. Ask him to avoid very high fat foods and consume high protein foods. If he does not binge eat during iftaari, he would be able to have his dinner, which should also be a high protein moderate carbohydrate and low to medium in fat. During the sehri, when they have their meal before starting their fast, make sure he does not have simple sugars and they get digested and absorbed very fast, and can make the person feel hungry sooner. The meal should be a combination of high protein, good quality fats , and complex carbohydrates. A mixture of the three will give complete nutrition and provide satiety for a longer period of time.
