Some signs like good eye contact, responding to name, social smile and understanding “come” are reassuring. However, by 16 months most children usually start pointing, waving and following simple commands. Since these are delayed, a developmental assessment is advisable. This does not necessarily mean autism, but early evaluation and stimulation are important. Also avoid excess screen time and encourage interactive play and communication.
